After several years of sailing together on luxury cruise ships around the world, we found our home in Eindhoven in 2020. This international experience has given us the unique opportunity to discover and taste local dishes and flavors in different places around the world. We therefore consider ourselves true food lovers, always looking for new culinary experiences! Cooking, baking, enjoying good food and tasting new dishes together has been an essential part of our lives from the very beginning of our relationship. We share a great love for nature and growing our own vegetables. We prepare these vegetables with great attention and love.

Our Gluten-free Journey

Bert, our chef with 15 years of culinary experience was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2020 after years of vague symptoms, this has had a great impact on our lives. From that moment on, we decided to banish everything related to gluten from our home. We completely changed our diet to a gluten-free lifestyle. Camila, gained 14 years of experience in Luxury Hotels and Cruise Ships before moving to the Netherlands. Her passion for good food and eye for detail are indispensable in Happy Belly’s kitchen. Bread baking is a precise activity where every smallest change ensures a different end result, without Camila’s precision, Happy Belly’s bread would never be so consistent. In addition to preparing bread and pastries, she also handles the branding and appearance of the Happy Belly brand.

A Gluten-free Revolution

When exploring gluten-free options in supermarkets and online web shops, we were often disappointed. The taste, texture and breads packed with starch did not meet our expectations. It motivated us to get to work together. After a lot of baking, tasting and trying out countless recipes. We have now developed a tasty and nutritious product of which we are proud. We no longer want to keep this to ourselves.

We’ve gone back to basics with our own bread. Made from only water, gluten-free flours and salt, without any additives or preservatives.

The time is ripe for a gluten-free revolution in the Netherlands. In our opinion, that starts with honest bread made the traditional way. You can read more about the real difference in quality compared to other gluten-free bakeries in our lists of ingredients.

Our vision for the future

Our goal in the coming years is to have an even wider reach and introduce more people to our delicious products, bread from an artisan baker that you can enjoy carefree. We will scale up production and also target the business market.
